Sun Run

SOLD OUT !

2008 Topless Sun Run general information

The Okanagan Valley Miata Club has another great Topless Sun Run planned for 2008. The Best Western Hotel in Kelowna will be our host this year, and will be our "base camp" for the weekend's events.

A new event this year will be the Friday night Tailgate Party. There are just so many nice cars in the parking lot of every Sun Run we thought we'd take the party into the parking lot to give us more opportunity to mingle and and have a good look at all the fantastic Miatas. The barbecue will be fired up from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm and we will be serving burgers (beef and veggie), salad, and refreshments. This year the BBQ, like all meals at the Sun Run, will be offered at no additional cost; it is included in your registration fee. The parking lot area will be blocked off for the private use of Sun Run guests, and a cash bar will be open throughout the duration of the Tailgate Party.

Our main Saturday run will take us to scenic Naramata, on the east side of Okanagan Lake near Penticton. Naramata is a small agricultural town filled with orchards and vineyards, and boasts some of the best wineries in the Okanagan Valley. We will be holding our lunch and Show & Shine at a beautiful park with a clean sandy beach, huge grassy area, a beach volleyball court, lots of available shade or sun (it's always sunny here!) and washroom facilities. A picnic lunch will be served in the park, and vegetarian lunches will again be available. Be sure to bring a beach blanket and a bathing suit! After lunch you have the opportunity to tour the town of Naramata and some of the 20 wineries that line the road back to Penticton.

Sunday will see an event change as well, as we will be holding a second run Sunday. Of course we can't go for a drive on an empty stomach, so we we be putting on a great breakfast / brunch at the Best Western prior to the run.

Sponsors
Mazda Canada has been sponsoring the Topless Sun Run since the inaugural event in 2001, and the Okanagan Valley Miata Club would like to thank them for their continued support in 2008. It is through their generosity that we are able to host this event at such a low cost to the participants.

Eunos Custom Automotive has been a sponsor for several years. They have supplied many great prizes and have helped us raise funds for our charities.

In addition to items from the sponsors above, we also have some other great prizes to give away. Many thanks to Leatherique Canada for supplying some of their professional leather restoration products, and to Club Miata Vancouver Island for supplying car blankets embroidered with their club logo.

We use CB radios between club members to help keep our rather large group of cars all heading in the same direction, more or less, so if you have a CB radio bring it with you. The more CBs the better. Our club uses channel 12.
