Club Meeting - Wednesday, August 31

Our next club meeting is on Wednesday, August 31 st. It is being hosted by Matt & Wendy Scaife at their home. Below are Matt’s directions. Also included is a Google Map web link. If you have club photos, event/Sun Run ideas etc please bring them along. Also, don’t forget to bring along any old car magazines that you want to include in the magazine swap. I will bring the Miata posters for anyone who has requested them. We are also looking for a member to volunteer their place for the next meeting in September.
See you there!

The address is ----------------------. Cook Road is the road that leads right into the Hotel Eldorado. We are in the townhouse building behind the Husky Gas station on Cook. The complex is called Bridgewater Estates. Park your Miatas on Cook Road on the street. We are on the ground floor of the building at the end nearest the lake, beside the carports.

If you have any questions call me at --------------- or email me at -------------------------.

Salmon Arm Roots and Blues Festival

I am interested to hear if any members took in the festival this past weekend. I was unable to attend at the last minute but a few people had expressed an interest in going. August is a tough month to organize events - too many members away or entertaining guests. it is hard to pack more than 1 guest in a Miata!

Nakusp Hot Springs - September 10

Nakusp Hot Springs Run - September 10 to ? Back by popular demand, it will be the same format as last year. Meet in Kelowna for breakfast, up to OUC Vernon and then out Highway 6 through the Monashees, a bring-your-own lunch at the Fauquier Ferry rest stop, then on to Nakusp and the Kuskanax Creek valley to the Hot Springs. Warm weather has been ordered, but in any case the springs are always a warm treat. The Monashee section of the highway and the recently paved road up to the Hot Springs are very Miata friendly. After our soak, sun, whatever, those that wish to go home will now know the way. The arrangements for those that wish to stay out in the Kootenays longer will be determined based on what the participants want. Please email me at --------- if you are interested in coming and let me know whether you would like to do the one day or two day (or more) run.

Zoom! Zoom!

PeteWe already have several members planning on attending this run. It was a great time last year with some doing a day trip, some staying overnight at the Hot Springs and a few members going onward to Nelson. Let's see if we can fill the Needles ferry with Miatas!

Please contact Pete as soon as possible if you would like to join us!

"Cariboo Or Bust" Trip - September 16 to 18

Date for this event is Friday, September 16th, leaving in the afternoon and returning Sunday, September 18th. Our member in the Cariboo, Rod Knopp, has offered to help organize this event.

Re: Cariboo Or Bust idea. I would be happy to help organize this. I live in 150 Mile House, and I could host a BBQ one afternoon or evening at my house. I have a house on 2 acres, so plenty of parking. The 1-hour drive to Likely/Horsefly is a windy, paved road, and the Big Lake Pub is a great lunch stop. Lots of cheap motels in Williams Lake (10 minutes from 150 Mile), so even a one-night stop would be fun and inexpensive. I can supply a list of choices & prices. If there are only 3 or 4 couples, I have a 7-bedroon house and they can all stay here for the night. Kelowna to 150 Mile House is about a 5 hour drive.
Rod Knopp

This is a great opportunity to have a local member guide us through the back roads of the area! Email me as soon as possible if you are interested in participating in this run. Once we know the final numbers we can organize accommodation etc.

This should be a fun time as there is a lot of things we could do. The place has a clubhouse with a fireplace, piano, dance floor and satellite TV. Also each unit has a fire pit. Casino close by with buffet and brunch on Sunday. Darlene is also looking into other places to eat.

My friend Darlene, her sister has a place in there so i am to send one nights accommodation, in American, with name, address and phone number for each unit for her to reserve them. It is a private resort. They want the reservation at least 40 days in advance so if you can get it to me I will forward it to Darlene. Make the cheque or money order out to Beachwood Resort. My address is ------------------------.

All the tourists will be gone and we can have the bay to ourselves. We have 5 Miatas confirmed for this run to date. Of course a drive down the Chuckanut is a must when in the area:
